About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Annandale, MN, In Hot Water Coffee Shop is much more than your average neighborhood coffee store—it’s a vibrant hub where exceptional coffee and community spirit come together. Located conveniently at 20 Cedar St E, this charming local gem serves meticulously crafted beverages alongside a tempting array of baked goods, all with a warm, welcoming small-town vibe that instantly makes you feel at home.

The true magic of In Hot Water Coffee Shop lies in its thoughtful menu and deep connection to the community. Coffee lovers will appreciate a thoughtfully curated selection of espresso-based drinks that cater to every palate: whether you prefer a single, double, or triple shot espresso, a smooth Americano, or a creamy iced mocha made with almond milk, each cup is expertly brewed and tailored with quality ingredients. For those seeking dairy alternatives, the shop offers almond, coconut, or oat milk, along with a variety of flavorful syrups and whipped cream extras, ensuring a personalized experience every time.

But what truly sets this coffee shop apart are the bakery favorites, which have garnered enthusiastic praise from locals and visitors alike. Their scones, often described as soft, buttery, and bursting with juicy berries or other delightful add-ins, are an absolute must-try. Paired with their famously delicious raisin bread or flaky biscuits, these treats elevate your coffee break to a memorable culinary moment. One can’t help but savor the comforting warmth of each bite, perfectly complementing a steaming medium coffee of the day or a refreshing iced concoction.

Step inside, and you’ll be wrapped in a genuine sense of community—the spirit that Abigial and many others continually celebrate. The atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance between cozy and lively, with friendly baristas who aren’t just skilled but truly know their regulars by name and favorite drinks. The shop’s unique history as a former library is still felt in its intimate layout, complete with walls adorned by local artists’ works, providing a continuously evolving cultural backdrop that enriches every visit.

Customers frequently commend the exceptional service and heartfelt details that make this coffee shop more than a place to grab a beverage. From a small community food pantry and free little library to a hygiene closet supporting local schools, In Hot Water Coffee Shop embodies the spirit of giving back. This is not just a business—it’s a cornerstone for Annandale’s community, a daily ritual for many, and a sanctuary for the soul.

I absolutely love this place! I’ve been a few times and each time I’m pleasantly surprised with their offerings. Not only does their menu offer variety but everything is delicious and hand crafted. The best part about this place is how deep their community ties run. They offer a small community food pantry, a free little library, and a hygiene closet for the local schools. Every community needs a place like In Hot Water. Well done to the owners and those who work here and support this business.

Best coffee shop in the world, not a lie. Nicest staff, best coffee I've had. The menu has tons of choices for whatever you are feeling that day. I love their banana bread blended coffee and their cinnamon bun. The local artists use their walls to sell art, so there's always new artists to discover while waiting for your coffee. This location used to be an old library so the feel is very comfortable.

We love visiting this coffee shop, especially on Saturday mornings in the summer when the farmers market is right outside it. The coffee is excellent and the baked goods are delicious. It’s a cute place with a cozy small town vibe inside.

Very cute coffee shop with good food and great coffee! I didn't realize they've been around since the year 2000 - how neat for Annandale! Definitely check it out if you're in town!
